All about Green Tea
Green tea doesn’t come from a different plant than “real” tea. In truth, all true teas, including green tea, come from the same plant, Camellia sinensis. The difference between green tea the drink and other real tea drinks, besides the green color, is the way tea leaves are processed before brewing.
Processing green tea
Tea leaves are often processed in some form before they’re used for brewing into tea drinks. For most teas aside from green tea, tea leaves are fermented. For green tea, tea leaves are steamed. This leads to less oxidization of tea leaves than fermentation does. As a consequence, green tea has its unique green hint and it contains higher degrees of antioxidants than other teas.
Green tea’s acceptance
Green tea has been most well-liked in the Middle East and parts of Far East, including China, Taiwan, HK, Korea, Japan, India and Thailand. In reality, there are many sorts of green tea alone enjoyed in these parts of the planet. In the Western world, black tea has been the conventional fave of tea drinkers. But green tea is also getting popular there.
Brewing green tea
Little different from darker teas is a green tea, it is brewed a little differently than other teas. The principal difference is the temperature of the water. Darker teas are generally brewed with boiling water.
Green tea is brewed with water that’s a little cooler than boiling, but still hot. If you want to brew green tea yourself, make efforts to follow the directions offered by the maker of the green tea you bought. Lacking the presence of directions, pour cold water into a teapot or shallow pan. Place it on a stove, set to extreme heat, and bring the water to the boil.
When the water starts to boil, remove it from the source of heat. Let it sit 2 – 3 mins, and only then pour it over the green tea. Let the tea steep for so long as 3 mins, then either take away the tea bag, or the loose tea leaves. Your green tea is now ready for you to enjoy.
Green tea’s supposed health benefits
Green tea has for some time been assumed to communicate a number of health advantages to those that drink it. It’s been declared to help with everything from curing or stopping sicknesses (including cancer and helps), to using up fat, to reducing cholesterol and more.
Modern medication has produced a number of studies on green tea’s health effects, but these have been inconclusive, with some reports saying green tea helps with a number of health issues, while other reports saying that green tea doesn’t have any special health benefits. What we do know about a number of antioxidants contains in green tea and it contains caffeine, though in smaller amounts than coffee, many sodas and darker teas. But while green tea’s health benefits are debatable, there isn’t any reason why this should forestall those that like green tea from enjoying a cup of their favourite beverage.
